The Geodata office will be closed to public walk-in service during that time as well, although staff will be available via phone and email. Thurston County's Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials voted to retain current salaries for the Thurston County Commissioners in 2026. Members acknowledged a letter from the Board — dated April 29, 2025, in which the board asked to skip salary increases this year — was a factor in their decision.

Lab results taken from Offutt Lake and Lake Lawrence detected toxic algae which is dangerous to humans and animals. Please stay out of these waters, and don't drink from them during the advisory. Even if lakes are visibly clear of algae, toxins may still be present. Staff will continue weekly monitoring until levels are below state recreational guidelines.

The 2026 Thurston County Fair will run from Thursday, July 30, through Sunday, August 2, and the fair mascot will be a bald eagle named Colonel Beaks chosen to honor America’s upcoming 250th anniversary in 2026.
