Candidate Filing Week
May 11 - 15, 2020

For the health and safety of candidates and elections staff, the Auditor’s Office will remain closed to the public during filing week May 11 – May 15. 

The candidate filing period will be held Monday, May 11 through Friday, May 15 to allow citizens to run for elected office for positions. 

  • State Legislature, 22nd Legislative District 
  • Thurston County Commissioner, District 1 and District 2 
  • Superior Court, all positions 
  • PUD Commissioner, District 3 
  • Precinct Committee Officers, all precincts, both parties

When to File 

If you need assistance or are dropping off a filing fee petition, contact us at elections@co.thurston.wa.us or by calling 360.786.5408 to schedule an appointment with our office. 

Online filing: 

  • Begins at 9:00 am Monday, May 11  
  • Closes promptly at 4:00 pm Friday, May 15 
In person filing is available via Auditor’s drop box at the County Courthouse, in the courtyard of building 1 

  • Candidates may use the Auditor’s drop box outside the Thurston County Courthouse to deposit filing fees and paperwork.  
  • Begins at 8:00 am Monday, May 11 
  • Filing fees are nonrefundable and must be received in the Thurston County Auditor’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15.

  • Begins at 8:00 am Monday, April 27 
  • Must be received in the Auditor's Office by 4:30 pm on Friday, May 15

  • Read all instructions carefully
  • Pay your nonrefundable filing fee:
    •  Online with Visa, Mastercard, American Express
    •  At the Thurston County Auditor's Office with cash/check
  • File before the deadlines:
    • Online filing closes promptly at 4:00 pm Friday, August 16
    • In person filing closes promptly at 4:30 pm Friday, August 16
    • Mailed filings must be in our office by 4:30 pm Friday, August 16
