Every ten years the congressional and legislative district boundaries are realigned as required by law. This is done to ensure that each district has an equal number of people and a fair distribution of political representation. County commissions approve precinct lines according to city boundaries and the boundaries of congressional, state legislative, and county legislative districts. Once jurisdictions have redrawn internal district lines, voting precincts are adjusted to match the new lines. Precincts cannot exceed 1,500 active registered voters.
Update: The Thurston County Board of Commissioners approved these new boundaries at the close of the public hearing on April 12, 2022. Current maps are available here.
