DemARTracy Student Art Contest Under Way
Students invited to interpret the phrase: “You have the power to change your world. Vote!”

OLYMPIA – The Thurston County Auditor’s Office invites students to visualize the power they have to change the world by taking part in the 2020 DemARTracy Art Contest.

2D or video entries can be submitted between December 23, 2019 and January 16, 2020. Artwork must depict the entrant’s interpretation of the phrase: “You have the power to change your world. Vote!”

“We have seen a dramatic increase in youth voting and getting involved in the democratic process,” said Mary Hall, Thurston County Auditor. “2020 is going to be a historic year, we know students are the best ambassadors to encourage participation by their peers.”

A winner and two runners up will be chosen from four age groups for both 2D and video categories: elementary (K-5), middle (6-8), high school (9-12) and undergrad students. Winning artwork may be used in Auditor’s Office marketing materials throughout the 2020 election year.

Complete contest rules are available here. Please contact Callie Meleedy at 360.786.5408 or if you have any questions.
