Auditor’s Financial Services Team Publishes 2017 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
OLYMPIA, WA – The Thurston County Auditor's Financial Services team has published Thurston County's 2017 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The CAFR is an annual report and provides the public with an in-depth look at county finances, including budgets, assets, fund balances, and other financial data.
"The CAFR reflects our commitment to transparency and excellence in financial reporting," said Thurston County Auditor Mary Hall. "Each year many talented people on our Financial Services team contribute to publishing the report."
Each CAFR covers a fiscal year (January 1 through December 31). Thurston County is one of only a few counties in Washington that go beyond the requirements of the Washington State Auditor's Office to produce a CAFR instead of a basic Annual Financial Report.
For the past 11 years Thurston County has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its CAFR from the Government Financial Officers Association (GFOA). This year's CAFR has been submitted to GFOA for consideration for the award once again.
CAFRs from previous years are also available on the Auditor's Financial Reports webpage.
The Auditor's Financial Services team provides direct financial services and guidance to Thurston County offices and departments in the areas of accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, financial reporting, and grants management.
