OLYMPIA, WA – The Government Financial Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the Auditor's Financial Services team with its 12th consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2017 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement recognizes state and local governments who go above and beyond minimum requirements for financial reporting.
"The GFOA award reflects the high quality of financial reporting in Thurston County and our commitment to making county finances transparent and accessible," said Thurston County Auditor Mary Hall. "Each year many talented people on our Financial Services team contribute to the report, and this award recognizes their valuable contribution."
Each CAFR covers a fiscal year (January 1 through December 31). Thurston County is one of only a few counties in Washington that go beyond the requirements of the Washington State Auditor's Office to produce a CAFR instead of a basic Annual Financial Report.
CAFRs from previous years are also available on the Auditor's Financial Reports webpage.
The Auditor's Financial Services team provides direct financial services and guidance to Thurston County offices and departments in the areas of accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, financial reporting, and grants management.
