Proclamations
What is a Proclamation?
A proclamation is a formal declaration of recognition or support that honors people, groups, or events. The Board of County Commissioners finds proclamations bring people together, encourage action and create awareness.
Thurston County conducts two different formats for proclamations:
Community Engagement Presentation:
These proclamations generally consist of an interactive and engaging presentation, multiple speakers and organizations, and have a theme that is of significant interest. The proclamation is read aloud by the Board during the formal BoCC business meetings, followed by a short recess to allow for time to connect.
Consent Proclamation:
A consent proclamation is a fast-track approach with one speaker per proclamation, and are ideal for organizations looking to promote anniversaries, celebrations or operations that have a large community impact; applying for grants, etc.
