  • Use eco-friendly grooming products
    • Using tools packaged with eco-friendly materials, or made with natural ingredients, can bring your business one step closer to being completely environmentally friendly!
  • Implement proper waste separation
    • Ensure that you separate the waste that you generate from your business. Such as recyclable materials, pet waste in the garbage, and medical waste in cleanly labeled and sealed containers.
  • Conserve water during baths
    • Ensure that you only run water when necessary to reduce the amount of wastewater volume and pollution load.

Common Wastes Associated with Doggy Daycares & Grooming Facilities

  • Pet Baths - Wastewater from pet baths must be disposed of properly. Wastewater can contain detergents, pest control shampoos, and topical medications in addition to animal waste. Wastewater cannot be discharged to the stormwater drainage system.
  • Pet Waste - Pet waste should be frequently picked up, bagged, and disposed of in the garbage. Dumpsters and garbage cans must have leak-proof lids, and lids must be closed at all times.
  • Sharps and Medical Waste - Must be disposed of using a biomedical waste vendor. Sharps must be stored in sharps containers.
