Application Period Opens for Community-Proposed Changes to County Land Use, Zoning, and Development Code
Comprehensive Plan and Development Code amendment proposals accepted Sept. 15 -Nov. 14

 OLYMPIA – Thurston County will begin accepting applications for proposed amendments to its land-use, zoning and development codes starting September 15, 2025, and running through November 14, 2025. Anyone may apply for a Comprehensive Plan or Development Code amendment during that time. 

A Comprehensive Plan amendment is a change to Thurston County’s long-term growth and land use plan, which guides decisions on housing, transportation, the environment, and community development. A Development Code amendment change updates the county rules and standards that put the Comprehensive Plan into action, such as zoning, building requirements, and land use regulations. 

After the application period closes, county staff will prepare a list of all submitted applications and provide the list to the Board of County Commissioners for their review. This is the first step of the county docketing process.

What: Application to Amend the Comprehensive Plan or Development Code 

When: Submit Monday, September 15, 2025 – Friday, November 14, 2025, at 3:30 p.m.
