Without community collaboration, project work and infrastructure maintenance are not possible. Establishing relationships and developing regular, consistent communication early on is a critical component of public service.   

Our Stormwater Utility, Real Estate Services, and Road Operations teams recently pitched in to make magic happen! A stormwater pond near Marvin Rd NE had been waiting for maintenance after an agreement between a group of co-owners had lapsed, leaving the parcel overgrown with weeds. The parcel was no longer accessible to our larger maintenance equipment, as the only suitable entrance was no longer covered by the agreement. 

Our Real Estate Services manager worked with the landowners to develop an agreement that met their terms and restored access through their parcel. This stormwater pond had not received maintenance work since 2018- nearly ten years of growth! Our Road Operations crew got to work felling overgrown trees and trimming back blackberry bushes, Scotch broom, and grasses. Their exceptional work has restored pond access, allowing our Stormwater Utility team to inspect the pond and ensure regular maintenance on the site. Sometimes all it takes is a little teamwork to get the job done. Check out the before and after photos!
