County Advisory Group Seeks Input on Proposed Capital Improvements
The Planning Commission to host public hearing on Weds., August 6, at 7 p.m. at the Atrium.
OLYMPIA – Thurston County’s volunteer advisory group, the Planning Commission, is inviting the community to review and weigh in on proposed changes to the county’s 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
The CIP is the county government’s six-year plan of community investment projects for unincorporated areas of Thurston County. It is the part of the county’s capital facilities plan that ensures public facilities including county-owned and/or operated parks, solid waste, stormwater, transportation, water and sewer, and government facilities and services keep up with population growth. Although the CIP includes estimated costs for proposed facility investments, it is not a budget.
The Planning Commission is considering updates to the CIP as part of the Thurston County Comprehensive Plan Update – Thurston 2045 – which is required under the Washington’s Growth Management Act. Find detailed information about the CIP on the county’s website at www.thurstoncountywa.gov/departments/community-planning-and-economic-development/community-planning/list-plans-programs-codes/capital-improvement-program-cip
