​OLYMPIA –The Thurston County and City of Olympia Planning Commissions will hold a joint public hearing Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. to receive public testimony on a proposal to update the Olympia Joint Plan. Those wishing to testify can provide their comments in person at Building 1, Room 280 of the Thurston County Courthouse (2000 Lakeridge Drive SW in Olympia), or virtually via video conference.

Background
The Growth Management Act requires counties and cities to adopt joint plans that guide development in the Urban Growth Areas, or UGAs. The Olympia Joint Plan was last updated in 2003, with minor updates since. This update will include new goals and policy language and minor corrections to the future land use and zoning maps. Additionally, a citizen-requested zoning amendment is considered as part of this update or code amendment to TCC 23.05 in lieu of a zone change.

The proposed amendments include revised background information, updated goals and policy language, updated population, and land forecasts, and one site-specific land-use zoning amendment or text amendment to TCC 23.05. You can view the proposed joint plan draft online.
