Thurston County to Celebrate its 21st National Adoption Day
Adoptive families and community invited to join the event on Thursday, November 20 at 4 p.m.
OLYMPIA –Thurston County today announced its 21st Annual National Adoption Day Celebration on Thursday, November 20, and invited the community to join the in-person event at the County’s Family & Juvenile Court in Tumwater, Washington.
The event will feature six local families finalizing adoptions on Thursday and will celebrate adoptive families and those who work to raise awareness of the many children in Washington awaiting a forever family through adoption. County judges, government officials, lawyers, private individuals and families will be on hand to commemorate the special day.

More than 1,000 children have been adopted by stepparents, domestic partners, individuals, and couples in Thurston County since the County’s first National Adoption Day in 2004. These families make a real difference in the lives of children and our community.
Event sponsors include Thurston County Superior Court-Family and Juvenile Court, Thurston County Bar Association, Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families, Artistry in Flowers, Coordinated Care-Apple Health, Family Education and Support Services, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, South Sound Reading, and the Hands-on Children’s Museum.
National Adoption Day is now celebrated in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
