OLYMPIA – Today, Tuesday, March 8, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to authorize the county manager to finalize and sign a contract with Geocko Inc. d.b.a. LiveStories for up to $5,000,000 to deliver rent and utility assistance programs for Thurston County.

OLYMPIA – The Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing Tuesday, March 22, at 3 p.m. to receive public testimony on the draft ordinance to expand the Board of Health from three members to at least eight members in accordance with ESSHB 1152 (RCW 70.05.030). The expansion is proposed to take effect July 1, 2022.

​Construction is scheduled to start February 28th at several intersections along Martin Way SE. Crews are improving curb ramps at the crossings on Kingham St. SE and Kinwood St. SE.

OLYMPIA – Yesterday, Wednesday, February 23, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners, after an executive session, voted to authorize the county manager to exercise the suspension clause of the contracts between Thurston County and Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason, and Thurston Counties (CACLMT) effectively immediately, and until further notice. The county manager sent the proper notification to CACLMT today suspending all contracts.

OLYMPIA – The National Weather Service has issued a forecast for below freezing nighttime weather patterns in the Puget Sound from February 22, 2022 to February 26, 2022. In response, Thurston County Public Health and Social Services is issuing a “Hazardous Weather” advisory to increase shelter-in-place efforts and offer extended nightly shelter beds starting on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 through Friday, February 25, 2022 nightly from 8pm through 8am.

An estimated 26,000 gallons of sewage spilled from the Tumwater sewage system near Sommerset Hill Drive and Percival Creek due to an obstruction in the main.
