Ballot Processing Center 2025 ribbon cutting

The Thurston County Auditor’s Office officially opened a new, modern Ballot Processing Center (BPC). This state-of-the-art facility will ensure safe, secure, and transparent elections for the community. A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the end of years of planning and work. This effort created a permanent home for Thurston County Elections.

Flyer showing information about the November 5 2025 Fix-It Fair put on by Thurston County Solid Waste.

The County’s Solid Waste division is hosting a fall Fix-It Fair at the Lacey MakerSpace on Wednesday, November 5 from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Volunteer fixers will be on hand to help repair clothing, lamps, housewares, jewelry, small appliances, and more. The event is free and open to all.

Thurston County's Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials voted to retain current salaries for the Thurston County Commissioners in 2026. Members acknowledged a letter from the Board — dated April 29, 2025, in which the board asked to skip salary increases this year — was a factor in their decision.

Lab results taken from Offutt Lake and Lake Lawrence detected toxic algae which is dangerous to humans and animals. Please stay out of these waters, and don't drink from them during the advisory. Even if lakes are visibly clear of algae, toxins may still be present. Staff will continue weekly monitoring until levels are below state recreational guidelines.
