What is an assisted voting device?

An assisted voting device enables voters with visual impairments, cognitive/learning disabilities, illiteracy, and limited mobility to vote privately and independently. This device can read the ballot, magnify the print, mark the ballot, and verify their votes on a paper ballot. Thurston County's accessible voting device is the ExpressVote machine.

The ExpressVote machine does not count ballots.

Assisted voting device availability

We have ExpressVote machines available 20 days before Election Day located at the Elections Division of the Auditor's Office or upon request. Click here for all election dates.
