How Hopeful is Thurston County? Attend the State of Hope in Thurston County to Find Out

Olympia, WA -- Research tells us that hope is the single best predictor of a person's ability to thrive and flourish. People who have hope are more productive at work, higher achievers, higher academic performers and healthier, with lower rates of depression and PTSD.

In fact, researchers are able to define and measure the singular components of hope — at an individuallevel, organizational-level and community-level.

In 2018, Hope Thurston, collaborated with Dr. Chan Hellman from the University of Oklahoma, Tulsa and community partners to measure, analyze and establish a "Hope Score" for Thurston County.

Hope Thurston invites the community to attend the State of Hope in Thurston County to learn about our county's Hope Score on September 17, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. at the South Puget Sound Community College Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts. The event will include beverages and hors d'oeuvres. There is no cost to attend, but organizers ask that attendees RSVP here.

"We want to make Thurston County a 'hope informed community.' That will lead to a hopeful culture — because we know that when people have a strong sense of connection to the community, they have a higher likelihood of being hopeful. It is a social gift we give to each other," said Thurston County Prosecutor Jon Tunheim, one of Hope Thurston's founders.
