In response to Governor Inslee's Stay Home, Stay Healthy Order and Safe Start Plan, Thurston County continues to operate under an essential services model. This is in effect
until Thurston County enters Phase 3 of the Safe Start Plan. Courts and other elected offices may operate under different hours or restrictions.

This division plans for community growth on behalf of the County's elected officials. Every County Code, capital project and zoning change is determined by the County's Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan may be changed to meet changing needs of the community. Amendments may be prompted by citizen request, population growth or changing state law. The amendment process includes public meetings, and guidance by a citizen advisory group called the Planning Commission. Upcoming public meetings are in the calendar below. Community Planning is a division of CPED, the Community Planning & Economic Development department.
