Planning Commission Public Hearing July 15
Amendments to Thurston County Rural Zoning Code on the agenda

The Thurston County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, July 15 at 7 p.m. on proposed amendments to the Thurston County Rural Zoning Code. The public is invited to participate in informed discussion, and testimony will be accepted at the July 15 hearing. The Planning Commission may act on the proposal at the close of the hearing.

The July 15 public hearing will be in Room 152 in Building One of the County Courthouse complex at 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW in Olympia.

Thurston County Rural Zoning Code Amendments
The Planning Commission is considering a proposal to amend portions of the Thurston County Rural Zoning Code, also known as Title 20, to make existing academic schools exempt from the maximum building coverage limits on lots within certain rural zoning districts in Thurston County.

If adopted, existing schools looking to expand would be exempt from the 6,000 square foot building coverage limit on lots less than 10 acres in size, and the 20,000 square foot building coverage limit for parcels over 10 acres in size within the RRR 1/5, R 1/10, R 1/20 and UR 1/5 zoning districts in unincorporated Thurston County. The proposed amendments to the Thurston County Rural Zoning Code—Title 20 are part of the county's 2014-2015 Docket of Development Code Amendments, item number A-5.
