Change in the way Thurston County Jurors are Summoned
New post card debuts later this month

OLYMPIA -Thurston County Superior Court is changing the way jury members are summoned. Instead of the traditional summons, prospective jurors will now receive a post card in the mail, directing them to go to the jury web site for more information.

There are three main reasons for the change-

It's Green - Thurston County cares about the environment. By switching to a postcard summons, which is smaller than the traditional summons, we're reducing paper waste and its impact on the environment.

It's Lean - Thurston County is committed to being good stewards of the public dollar. Switching to a postcard summons will reduce the production, summoning, and processing costs by about half.

It's Clean - The new postcard summons is clear and concise. It contains all the information needed to begin the response process. Jurors will be directed to the jury website to respond to the summons and to learn additional information.

The first new summons will go out September 21.
