Proposed changes now available on the Thurston County website.
Thurston County has released a list of proposed development regulation changes for 2016-2017. You can find the list on the county's website under its official name "2016-2017 Preliminary Docket of Development Code Amendments." -30-
Residents of unincorporated Thurston County and those who may be affected by regulatory changes at the county level are asked to review the preliminary docket and provide written comments about which proposals the county should address in 2016-2017. Written comments are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2015.
After public review, the Thurston County Board of County Commissioners will select items from the Preliminary Docket for the Official Docket. That Official Docket then will be forwarded to the Thurston County Planning Commission for review. The Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners will hold public hearings on the merits of the items approved for the Official Docket prior to adoption of any final regulations.
Projects on the docket are prioritized into four tiers: Priority A, B, C and D. Subjects in the lower three tiers may not be addressed due to staff and budget constraints.
Some of the proposed Priority A topics include amending the impact fee ordinance (Title 25) to add a deferral process and to add fire districts; amending sign regulations in all codes to conform to a recent Supreme Court decision; setting final regulations for state-licensed marijuana producers, processers and retailers; and considering more restrictions on fireworks.
