County Releases Draft of Stormwater Manual for Public Comment
The public comment period is open to accept comments on the draft manual

OLYMPIA - The Thurston County Drainage Design and Erosion Control Manual is being revised to include new rules for managing stormwater runoff from development projects. The Manual is being updated to be in compliance with statewide standards set by the Department of Ecology. The public comment period is open until August 15, 2016.

A draft of the updated drainage manual is available online at http://www.co.thurston.wa.us/stormwater/manual/manual-home.html .Interested parties can sign up to receive information on open houses, workshops, and other announcements related to the drainage manual at that website.

A technical workshop geared specifically toward the development community will be held to accept comment.

Time: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The purpose of the Drainage Design and Erosion Control Manual is to help reduce the amount of pollution and erosion caused by stormwater runoff as it enters rivers, streams, Puget Sound and the groundwater. The manual applies to all development and redevelopment in Thurston County, as well as projects in cities that adopt the Thurston County manual.
