Section of Recreational/Transportation Trail to Close Temporarily
Closure to accommodate biking event

OLYMPIA - A popular section of trail in Thurston County will be closed to public access for a time later this month. The closure is to accommodate the Seattle to Portland bike ride.

The ride is scheduled for July 16 and 17 and thousands of riders are expected to use the Yelm-Tenino Trail during the event. That means The 14.5 mile section of the Yelm-Tenino Trail will be closed to the public on July 16.

The second day of the ride (July 17) the trail will be open to the public as the bulk of the riders is expected to pass through on the 16th.

The 200-plus mile Seattle to Portland bicycle ride is the largest multi-day bicycle event in the Northwest, with up to 10,000 participants riding from Seattle to Portland in one or two days. The 10,000 registered riders come from 7 countries and 45 states and the oldest rider is 89.
