Thurston County Offices to Close for a Short Fire Drill
Exercise set for 1:15 on August 18

OLYMPIA -Thurston county offices will be closed for a short period of time on Thursday, August 18, for an emergency drill. The exercise is to start at 1:15pm and should last only 15 or 20 minutes. The scenario involves a "pretend" fire on the premises and is a test of evacuation procedures. Firefighters may also respond to the drill if time allows, so emergency equipment may also be on the scene for a short while.

County site managers, office emergency coordinators and management may be initiating the drill and times may vary slightly depending on the location.

County staff will assist with evacuating citizens who may be present during the drill. Citizens will be directed to move to a specified assembly area or they can return upon completion of the training drill (approx. 15 minutes).
