Come to the Emergency Prep Expo 2016 This Saturday
Join us at the free event starting at 10 a.m. at Rochester Middle School

Olympia> - This year's theme for the county's annual preparedness event is "Because Everything Can Change in a Heartbeat." and the staff at Thurston County Emergency Management wants you to get the tools, tips and information from first responders and emergency management experts to get you "ready" for emergencies and disasters.

While South Sound first responders and Thurston County Emergency Management officials are ready to respond to earthquakes, heavy rain, snow, extreme winds or flooding this winter, each resident should also be prepared to respond to severe winter storms and other natural disasters and emergencies. Come to the Expo and learn more on how to be ready!

This year's featured presentations include Natural Hazards in Your Backyard such as landslides, floods, earthquakes presented by expert Tim Walsh from Department of Natural Resources, as well as information from West Thurston Fire Captain, Lanette Dyer on Pet CPR and other safety tips.

The free event will start at 10 a.m. and every attendee will receive a free Kit-Man safety bag with instructions on how to create your own emergency response kit. Dozens of vendors will also be on hand with information and demonstrations on everything you need to prepare, respond, and recover from the next disaster.
