HazoHouse Open House Set for April 14

The public is invited to an open house at Thurston County's new HazoHouse on Thursday, April 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the new facility at the county's Waste and Recovery Center, 2418 Hogum Bay Road in Lacey. A tour of the facility will follow remarks by Thurston County Commissioner Sandra Romero and staff.

The new facility, opened on March 4, brings the program, which safely disposes of hazardous household materials, into compliance with current laws and regulations. Upgrades include a sheltered drop-off service, easy drive-in/drive-out access and a state-of-the-art ventilation system.

HazoHouse accepts hazardous household items such as solvents, cleaning supplies, fluorescent light tubes, pesticides and other products for safe disposal and recycling. The service is free to residents. A complete list of accepted materials and other information is available at www.co.thurston.wa.us/solidwaste/ or at 867-2491.
