OLYMPIA - Thurston County is proposing to amend the "2016-17 Docket of Official Development Code Amendments" by adding an item to address impervious surface standards in the unincorporated Tumwater Urban Growth Area. The proposed docket item would include reconsideration of impervious surface coverage limits in the Residential/Sensitive Resource zoning district adopted on November 29, 2016.
Residents of the unincorporated Tumwater Urban Growth Area in Thurston County and those who may be affected by the proposed regulatory changes at the county level are asked to review the proposal and provide comments on whether the county should address this issue in 2017. Written comments are due by 12pm Thursday, March 2, 2017.
After the public review period, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will decide whether to add this item to the official docket. After, the item will be forwarded to the citizen review group, the Thurston County Planning Commission, for their review. Next, the Planning Commission and the BOCC will hold public hearings on the merits of the items on the docket, prior to adoption of any final regulations.
Some of the items already on the 2016-17 Official Docket include amending sign regulations in all codes to conform to a recent Supreme Court decision; and setting final regulations for state-licensed marijuana producers, processers and retailers.
