Thurston County 4-H Teens as Teachers
4-H Positive Youth Development Program Seeks Teens to Teach Younger Children About Health

OLYMPIA - 'Teens as Teachers' offers training to youth ages 13-19 in leadership and facilitation and prepares them to offer health-related lessons to younger children.

Teen teachers will lead hands-on, interactive lessons to children ages 8-12 in after-school programs about the importance of healthy eating, active play, and the environment in their daily lives.

Children are eager to learn from older youth about health. Teens make wonderful role models for younger children while learning valuable life skills. Everyone grows and has fun in the process!

'Teens as Teachers' strives to offer adolescents opportunities to experience belonging, mastery, independence and generosity, the hallmark of 4-H youth development programs. Teen teachers gain leadership and facilitation skills, as well as a greater understanding of and commitment to healthy habits.

Registration deadline: Monday March 20th, 2017

First Training: Monday April 3-5, 2017, Thurston County Fair Grounds
