OLYMPIA - The Thurston Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 3, at 7:00 p.m., or soon thereafter to take public testimony on amending the impervious surface standards in the Residential Sensitive Resource zoning district.

What: Public Hearing on Impervious Surface Standards in the Residential Sensitive Resource Zoning District in the Tumwater UGA
When: Wednesday, May 3, 2017
Time: 7:00 p.m., or soon thereafter
Where: County Courthouse, Building One, Room 152 at 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW in Olympia, 98502

Find more detailed information about the proposal and the full text of the proposed ordinance on the Thurston Planning website.

Background:
Thurston County adopted an amendment in December 2016 to amend the impervious surface standards in the Residential Sensitive Resource 2-4 Dwelling Unit per Acre Zoning District in the Tumwater Urban Growth Area Zoning Ordinance (Title 22) as part of the Low Impact Development Standard updates.

During the implementation it was found that the newly adopted standard did not account for larger lots found in this zoning district in the unincorporated area of the Tumwater Urban Growth Area. The City of Tumwater completed its review on April 18, 2017.

The Planning Commission invites the public to participate in an informed discussion and provide public testimony at the hearing on May 3. The public may submit written comments in lieu of testimony at the hearing.

The public can send written comments by email to Jeremy Davis, Senior Planner, at davisj@co.thurston.wa.us, or hand deliver or send by mail to:
Thurston County Resource Stewardship Department
Land Use and Permitting, ATTN: Jeremy Davis
2000 Lakeridge Drive SW
Olympia, WA 98502

The deadline for written comments is 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. The Planning Commission may choose to make its recommendation to the Board of County Commissions after the public hearing, or they may request that staff make changes. After the Planning Commission completes its work, it is forwarded to the Board of County Commissions for their review, public hearing, and final decision.
