County Public Works Crews Continue Response to Winter Weather Event
Crews are applying anti-icing solution and sanding County roadways

OLYMPIA – Thurston County Public Works crews continue winter response efforts today by actively spraying anti-icing solution and sanding all County-maintained roadways.

In preparation for freezing temperatures this morning, Public Works crews prepped all County roads yesterday afternoon by plowing residual snow and ice accumulations and spraying roads with a brine solution and sand. There were no reported road issues at 4:00 a.m.

Between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. this morning, temperatures dropped lower than anticipated and a light dusting of snow occurred. In response, Public Works dispatched crews by 6:00 a.m. to plow snow and reapply anti-icing solution and sand. Crews will continue to respond until conditions improve.

This weather pattern of rain, snow, and freezing temperatures is predicted to occur off and on until the middle of next week. The County reminds drivers to use caution during these weather events and drive appropriately for conditions.
