TBD Board Requesting Public Feedback on Funding a Transportation Benefit District
OLYMPIA – In November, staff will present funding options for a Thurston County Transportation Benefit District (TBD) to the Transportation Benefit District Board. The Board is asking residents in unincorporated Thurston County, including urban growth areas, to provide their input on funding mechanisms in writing by October 31, 2018 for consideration at the Board’s November 20, meeting.
A phone survey is currently being conducted. The Board encourages residents to email their feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org
by 5:00 p.m. on October 31, 2018.
In 2014, Thurston County created a TBD that covers the unincorporated areas of the County. This allows the County to collect fees or taxes to help implement transportation projects within the TBD boundaries.
The goal is to invest TBD revenue to improve Thurston County’s transportation network by making roads safer, maintaining the County’s current infrastructure, and updating technology. Improvements could include road repaving, traffic calming, and adding flashing beacons at crosswalks.
