Thurston County is Accepting Applications for Two Historic Preservation Grants
The deadline for applications for both grants is 5:00 p.m. November 04, 2019

OLYMPIA – Thurston County is currently accepting grant applications for two separate grants for historic preservation organizations in Thurston County. Organizations can apply for the Phase II Heritage Grant Program and the History Book Grant Program for the local history book Water, Woods, and Prairies.
 
What: 2020 Phase II Thurston County Heritage Grant Program
When: Apply by 5:00 p.m. November 04, 2019. Grants will be awarded in early 2020.

The Historic Preservation Grant program is funded by revenues the county collects from the recording of documents. By state law, these funds can only be used for programs and projects related to historic preservation. 

This summer, five applicants for Phase I funding requested a total of $44,600. The County Commissioners authorized Phase II funding to grant the remaining 2020 Historic Preservation funds of $30,400, with a maximum $10,000 per application. 2020 Grant applicants who applied between July 15 and August 30, 2019 (Phase I) are not eligible to apply for Phase II funding.  Final consideration of all grant awards will be made by early 2020.

The intent of the Thurston County History Book Grant Program is to assist projects that promote public access to Thurston County history through selling history books to fund and promote the grant’s mission.
