Thurston County facilities are now open to the public with restrictions, including maintaining physical distancing of at least six feet at all times and, per the Washington State Secretary of Health’s face covering order wearing a cloth face covering or mask. If you come to county facilities, please be prepared for potentially long wait times or lines due to distancing guidelines. We continue to encourage residents to access county services online, by phone, by email, or through the use of drop boxes located outside of county buildings.

Thurston County Offices Closed December 25, January 1 for Christmas, New Year’s Holidays

​OLYMPIA –   Thurston County government offices will be closed on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, 2019 and New Year's Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2020. All offices will re-open for regular business the day after each holiday.

The county's Waste and Recovery Center (WARC) in Lacey will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, but will be open for regular business hours the day after each holiday. Gates open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 4:45 p.m. Check with your waste disposal company for your curbside garbage and recycling collection schedule.

Other county service information for the holidays:

  • Fire and Police Emergency Services: Call 9-1-1 for emergency police, fire and medic services. Residents are urged to use 9-1-1 for life-threatening emergencies only. 
  • Thurston County Sheriff Non-Emergency Services: Residents of unincorporated Thurston County are urged to call the Sheriff's Office non-emergency number at (360) 704-2740 for non-emergency issues like noise complaints.
  • County Parks Open: Burfoot Park, Frye Cove Park, Kenneydell Park and the Off-Leash Dog Park at the WARC will be open during regular park hours.
  • Intercity Transit: I.T. will be closed on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December. 25, 2019 and New Year's Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2020. Local bus, Express, Dial-A-Lift, and Village Vans will not operate. Customer Service located in the Olympia Transit Center and the business office will also be closed.
