Thurston County Offices Closed December 25, January 1

​OLYMPIA –   Thurston County government offices will be closed on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, and New Year's Day, Friday, January 1. All offices will re-open for regular business the Monday after each holiday.

The county's Waste and Recovery Center (WARC) in Lacey will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, but will re-open for regular business hours the Saturday after each holiday. Gates open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 4:45 p.m. The HazoHouse and the Recycle Center will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, and Saturday, January 2. Check with your waste disposal company for your curbside garbage and recycling collection schedule. 

The Rainier Drop-Box Facility located at 13010 Rainier Acres Rd will be closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day, but will re-open on the Saturday after each holiday with normal hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). 

Other county service information for the holidays:

  • Fire and Police Emergency Services: Call 9-1-1 for emergency police, fire, and medic services. Residents are urged to use 9-1-1 for life-threatening emergencies only. 
  • Thurston County Sheriff Non-Emergency Services: Residents of unincorporated Thurston County are urged to call the Sheriff's Office non-emergency number at (360) 704-2740 for non-emergency issues like noise complaints.
  • County Parks Open: Burfoot Park, Frye Cove Park, Kenneydell Park, Deschutes Falls Park, and the Off-Leash Dog Park at the WARC will be open during regular park hours.
  • Intercity Transit: There will be no bus service provided by Intercity Transit (I.T.) on Christmas Day or New Year's Day, and the I.T. administrative offices will be closed. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I.T. is providing limited bus service, which will resume the Saturday after each holiday.
