OLYMPIA - Thurston County residents are encouraged to attend a public hearing regarding local redistricting efforts. The hearing on the redistricting proposals is set for 5:30 pm, Thursday, November 3, 2011 in Room 280, Building One of the Thurston County Courthouse on Lakeridge Drive in Olympia.
Thurston County Commissioners have until December 7, 2011 to revise Commissioner District boundaries to ensure each has an approximately equal number of residents. The County Commissioners have been working with the Port of Olympia and the Public Utility District to develop a set of four alternatives for consideration. The Port has recommended adoption of Redistricting Proposal #2 while the PUD has recommended adoption of Redistricting Proposal #4. The County, Port and PUD held a public meeting on these options on October 20th at Tenino High School.
Formal Board action on the revised district boundaries is expected to take place at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
