Candlelit Vigil Held to Remember the Life of Ashley Jones

Thurston County, WA- On Saturday, February 18th, the family of Ashley Rene Jones Davis held a candlelight vigil to honor her memory on the year anniversary of her death. The event, held at the regional athletic complex in Lacey, served as an opportunity for family and friends to share stories and memories. Ms. Jones Davis was texting on her cell phone as well as under the influence of alcohol when her Mazda 3 crossed the centerline striking a 1995 Freightliner box truck. She was killed instantly.

Target Zero Thurston and the Washington State Patrol (WSP) partner with the family in an educational campaign to stop impaired and texting drivers from harming themselves or others.

The Teens Against Distracted Driving group from King County was present with pledge cards and wrist bands.

Ashley's family never wants this to happen to another family. Target Zero Thurston's goal is zero deaths and disabling injuries by the year 2030. To do this, the task force engages in educational and law enforcement campaigns to change these deadly and dangerous driving behaviors.
