OLYMPIA - Thurston County is announcing an interactive community ideas website that allows citizens to share feedback and ideas and gives them a platform to vote and comment on those ideas. The aim is to have the most important issues rise to the top. -30-
The Treatment Sales Tax (TST), 1/10th of 1% or one penny for every ten dollars spent, provides the county with revenue for the operation or delivery of chemical dependency or mental health treatment programs and services and for the operation or delivery of therapeutic court programs and services. Since the start of funding in 2009, 21 programs across the public health and criminal justice system have received funds.
In 2011, the Board of Thurston County Commissioners requested that a needs assessment and gap analysis be completed for the TST program. The resulting Executive Summary and Treatment Sales Tax Needs Assessment & Gap Analysis is available at http://www.co.thurston.wa.us/treatment-tax/communityideas.htm
The new interactive, moderated website allows users to share, comment and vote on the recommendations put forth in the report, as well as suggest ideas on how to implement the recommendations. The forum is open now and will remain open through 5 PM June 15, 2012. Every idea counts. Share yours at http://communityideas.ideascale.com/
