Residents Urged to Clear Drains of Leaves

Thurston County Public Works officials urge residents to help prevent flooding roads by clearing fallen leaves from blocked storm drains.

"If minor flooding occurs on your road or street, use a rake or shovel to remove clogged leaves and other debris from storm drains,"says Public Works Acting Director Donavan Willcutt. "Be sure and remove the debris off the roadway or they'll just return during the next storm. Your help with clearing localized flooding will free up our crews to respond to more severe drainage problems."Residents are urged to remember "Safety first!"

"If you feel unsafe or the flooding is severe, please contact Roads Maintenance at 867-2300 for assistance," says Willcutt.
