When the Big One Hits, Will You Be Ready

You may know to drop, cover and hold on when the next big earthquake strikes the Pacific Northwest, but do you know what to do before or after the shaking to keep you and your family safe? The October 18 Great Washington ShakeOut earthquake drill is your chance to prepare, practice and be ready to respond when the Big One strikes.

Thurston County residents are invited to join the Washington Emergency Management Division, Thurston County Emergency Management and more than 500,000 registered participants in the ShakeOut drill at 10:18 a.m. on Thursday. Registration and participation are free. Information and resources are available at www.shakeout.org for individuals and families, as well as businesses, schools, community organizations, hospitals and clinics, people who work with animals and livestock, and countless other organizations and facilities.

To learn more about The Great Washington ShakeOut, download resources and tips, or to register, go to www.shakeout.org/Washington.
