Help Stream Team Stir Things up This Summer

Stream Team is looking for volunteers to stir things up this summer, specifically "stream bugs" in 20 local streams throughout Thurston County. No experience is necessary. A training session for volunteers will be offered on Tuesday, July 9 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

"Stream bugs are the critters that live in the bottom of streams," says Stream Team Coordinator Ann Marie Pearce. "They provide valuable information on water quality and the biological health of streams. They're also fun to collect and examine!"

Stream bug sampling will take place on varying dates from late June through early August. To register for the training go to www.streamteam.info/getinvolved/calendar/ For questions about the monitoring program, contact Ann Marie Pearce at 754-3355, ext. 6857 or via e-mail at pearcea@co.thurston.wa.us
