Thurston County Assessor’s Office Receives National Recognition
Office honored with prestigious Certificate of Excellence

OLYMPIA - The Thurston County Assessor's Office receives highest national honor. Assessor Steven Drew was notified by the International Association of Assessment Officers (IAAO) that he and his staff have been honored for excellence as measured against best practices in all areas.

In part, the notification letter states- Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that your office has earned the prestigious IAAO Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration.

Earning the IAAO Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration is a rigorous and challenging task. The purpose of the IAAO Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration is to recognize those governmental units utilizing best appraisal and assessment practices throughout their offices including a strong emphasis on teamwork, accomplishments, and a high level of satisfaction among peers, staff, and constituents. The IAAO Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration is intended for jurisdictions that have developed superior assessment practices for all aspects of their operations.

Thurston County Assessor Steven Drew says the Certificate of Excellence is recognition of the hard work of the entire Assessor's staff. "Our office is honored to have earned the highest award offered by the International Association of Assessing Officers. This award serves as validation for the progress and hard work my staff has accomplished over the past 3 years and 4 months. Of note is that Thurston County is only the third jurisdiction west of the Rocky Mountains to have EVER received this award."

IAAO president Kim Lauffer says in the notification letter that the Certificate of Excellence is in recognition of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by the Thurston County Assessor's Office. Find out more by visiting the IAAO website.
