Positions available on the Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials
The Board of County Commissioners is currently looking for Thurston County citizens who are interested in serving on the Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials. This commission, also known as the Salary Commission, sets the salaries of the Thurston County Commissioners and makes recommendations to them regarding the salaries of the elected Assessor, Auditor, Clerk, Coroner, Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff and Treasurer.
The Salary Commission is comprised of ten members—six members who are selected at random by the Thurston County Auditor, and four members who are selected by the county commissioners. There are currently four vacancies for the positions appointed by county commissioners. County commissioners are seeking candidates with personnel management experience in at least one of four sectors of the community—business, legal, professional personnel management, and organized labor.
Appointed citizens will serve four-year terms. The Salary Commission meets on the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m., as needed.
