Grand Mound Construction Will Wrap Up by Mid-October
Completion of road work near US 12 and Highway 99 expected by Oct. 13

Drivers in south Thurston County near Grand Mound can expect a smoother commute once construction work in the area wraps up in mid-October.

Most of the road construction work near the intersection of US 12 and Highway 99 is expected to be complete by the end of next week, and the finish work and road striping is expected to wrap up by October 13. The road work is part of a private development project in the area.

"We noticed recently that the road work has caused some congestion at times," said Kevin Hughes with the county's Public Works Development Review division, "so county staff worked with WSDOT to do some adjustments to the traffic signal timing. It looks like that has alleviated a lot of that congestion, but I'm sure drivers in that area will really see things smooth out once construction wraps up in about two weeks."
