National Adoption Day Celebration, Thursday, November 20th
10th year for this special event

OLYMPIA - Thurston County residents are invited to join in the celebration of National Adoption Day during a special event at Family and Juvenile Court. Many committed private individuals, families, government agencies, judges and programs have joined together on National Adoption Day to promote and ensure successful child placements. Several local families will publicly finalize adoptions at this celebration.

When:Thursday, November 20, 2014, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Where:Thurston County Family and Juvenile Court,

2801 32nd Avenue SW, Tumwater, Washington.

This year marks Thurston County's 10th year celebrating National Adoption Day. Since 2004 over 1,100 adoptions were completed. This year over 60 adoptions have been completed - stepparents, domestic partners, individuals and couples made the choice to be life-long parents by adopting. These families make a real difference in the lives of children and our community as a whole. National Adoption Day is an excellent way to honor, support and promote adoption in our community.

Our Adoption Day Ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 pm. Refreshments and socializing will follow at 4:30 pm with activities to include Booker T. Bear and craft projects from the Hands on Children's Museum.

This event is sponsored by Thurston County Superior Court's Family and Juvenile Court, Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, Thurston County Bar Association and many local area businesses.
