Canvassing Board Meeting on Feb. 18 Canceled
Meetings on Feb. 23 and 24 to continue as planned

OLYMPIA, WA – The Thurston County Auditor's Office has canceled the first canvassing board meeting of the February Special Election, as there are no ballots to canvass. This meeting was originally planned for Wednesday, February 18. The public is invited to attend the following two canvassing board meetings:
  • Monday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Ballot Processing Center
    2905 29th Ave. SW, Suite E, Tumwater, 98512

  • Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. at the Thurston County Auditor's Office
    2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, Bldg 1 Rm 118, Olympia, 98502

A canvassing board is a public entity that conducts a formal assessment, or "canvass" of an election. The assessment includes reviewing ballots and vote totals, determining the validity of challenged ballots, certifying the election, and administering any recount. The canvassing board consists of Auditor Mary Hall, Prosecuting Attorney Jon Tunheim and County Commissioner Cathy Wolfe, or their designees.

The Special Election will be certified at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, during the final meeting of the canvassing board.
