Public Invited to Observe April 28 Ballot Processing
Public can observe ballot sorting, verification for Tumwater special election

TUMWATER, WA – The Elections Division of the Thurston County Auditor's Office invites the public to observe ballot processing for the April 28 special election for Proposition No. 1 in the City of Tumwater. This process includes ballot declaration signature checking to ensure that signed envelopes match voter registration signatures on file, sorting ballots by precinct, and ballot inspection.

Ballots for the April 28 special election were mailed to registered voters in the City of Tumwater on April 8. As ballots are returned, processed and scanned, vote counts will remain secure and secret until 8 p.m. on election night. Following Election Day, daily tabulation and updated vote counts may be postponed if the Auditor's Office is not in possession of at least 500 valid ballots at the scheduled time.

The Ballot Processing Center is located at 2905 29th Ave SW, Suite E in Tumwater. Anyone wishing to observe ballot processing should contact the Auditor's Office at (360) 786-5408 or elections@co.thurston.wa.us to arrange a tour.
