Canvassing Board Meetings May 11 and 12
Public invited to observe ballot processing for Apr. 28 special election

OLYMPIA, WA – The Thurston County Auditor's Office invites citizens to attend the canvassing board meetings for the special election held on April 28:
  • Monday, May 11 at 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 12 at 4 p.m.

The May 11 canvassing board meeting will be held at the Thurston County Ballot Processing Center, located at 2905 29th Ave. SW in Tumwater, 98512. The final canvassing board meeting will be held at the Thurston County Auditor's Office, located at 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW in Olympia, 98502.

A canvassing board is a public entity that conducts a formal assessment, or "canvass," of an election. The assessment includes reviewing ballot and vote totals, determining the validity of challenged ballots, certifying the election, and administering any recount. The canvassing board consists of Auditor Mary Hall, Prosecuting Attorney Jon Tunheim and County Commissioner Cathy Wolfe, or their designees.

The Special Election will be certified on Tuesday, May 12 during the final meeting of the canvassing board.
