Volunteers Needed for August Ballot Measure "For" and "Against" Statements
Voters' pamphlet statements needed for Fire District 5 and 9 ballot measures

OLYMPIA, WA – The Thurston County Auditor's Office is looking for volunteers to serve on the committees that write the "For" and "Against" statements for the voter's pamphlet for two special levies that will appear on the August 4 primary election ballot.

Fire Protection Districts No. 5 (Black Lake) and No. 9 (McLane) have each filed resolutions calling for a maintenance and operations levy. If passed, residents of each fire protection district would pay $0.196 per $1,000.00 of assessed property value to maintain essential staffing, pay regular maintenance and operational costs, and provide for the maintenance, repair and replacement of essential equipment and facilities.

Any citizen may participate in "For" and "Against" committees. Interested persons should contact the Auditor's Office at (360) 786-5408 or elections@co.thurston.wa.us by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15.
