OLYMPIA, WA – The Thurston County Elections Division has mailed 3,107 ballots and voters' pamphlets and ballots to military and overseas voters for the August 4 primary election. This 45-day mailing provides these voters ample time to learn about the candidates and issues, vote and return their ballot in a timely fashion. All ballot declarations must be signed and dated by election day or received by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4.

There are eight races in the Primary Election:
  • Port of Olympia Commissioner Districts 1 and 3
  • Olympia Mayor
  • Olympia City Council Position No. 2

  • Centralia School District Director Position No. 2

The top two winners in the primary election will appear on the November 3 general election ballot. Maintenance and operations levies for Fire Protection Districts 5 (Black Lake) and 9 (McLane) are also on the August ballot.
