Notice of the August 3, 2021 Primary Election

A ballot will be mailed to all Thurston County voters with a current mailing address. 

Participating Jurisdictions: 

Thurston County – Medic One (Proposition No. 1, Levy Lid Lift); Port of Olympia (Commissioner District No. 3); City of Olympia (Council Positions No. 2, 5, 6, 7); City of Yelm (Council Positions No. 3, 4, 7); Olympia School District No. 111 (Director Districts No. 3, 5); Rochester School District No. 401 (Director District No. 5); Fire Protection District No. 6 – East Olympia (Commissioner Position No. 2); Fire Protection District 12 (Proposition No. 1, Bonds to Construct New Fire Station); Fire Protection District No. 13 – Griffin (Proposition No. 1, Levy Lid Lift); SE Thurston Fire Authority (Proposition No. 1, Levy Lid Lift). 

Registration Deadlines: 
  • Monday, July 26, 2021: Deadline to register to vote, transfer to a new address or update current registration by mail or online. Must be received by an election official by close of day. 
  • Tuesday, August 3, 2021: Deadline to register to vote, transfer to a new address or update current registration. Must be done in-person at a County Auditor’s Office or Voting Center in Washington State. 
Post-Election Random Audit: Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 9:00 am at the Ballot Processing Center. This test is open to the public and ensures the tabulation system is counting ballots accurately.

Voter Registration Forms are available at all Thurston County Timberland Libraries, city/town halls, schools, fire stations, and licensing agencies. 

Accessible Voting Assistance is available at the Thurston County Elections Office (drive-through services available), beginning July 14, M - F, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm and on Election Day, August 3, 8:00 am - 8:00 pm or call to arrange an appointment. 

Meetings to Canvass ballots and finalize the election are open to the public. Meetings are held at the Thurston County Ballot Processing Center on Thursday, Aug 12 at 2:30 pm and Tuesday, Aug 17 at 1:00 pm. Meetings maybe convened remotely if warranted, contact our office for more information.
